Nikah Service

Following is the procedure for performing the Nikah by ICNE Imam Abdur Rahman Ahmad::

1. The bride and groom must both be Muslim.
2. There must be two Muslim male witnesses.
3. The Mahr (dowry) must be agreed upon prior to the marriage.
4. A marriage license must be obtained from any town clerks’s office in MA. (It could be the town you reside in or the town of Sharon).

1. The original license must be submitted one week prior to the wedding in person or by email in order for it to be processed by the ICNE.
2. The Nikah application form must be filled out and emailed to Imam Abdur Rahman at: imam.sharon@icne.net one week prior to the date of the Nikah.
3. There will be no last minute weddings and no marriage information processed over the phone.
4. The Nikah must happen on time. Imam Abdur Rahman will not wait for more than 15 minutes upon his arrival to perform the Nikah, So please let him know the exact time. In case of emergency, please call Imam directly at (609) 533 3555.
5. A marriage certificate fee of $250 for members and $300 for non-members will be collected from the marrying couple to be paid by check in the name of ICNE.
6. If the venue is more than 15 minutes away from ICNE Sharon the Imam should be compensated for his time and travel expense.

How do I apply for a Marriage License?

Both parties must appear together to fill out the Intention of Marriage at the Town Clerk’s Office during business hours. There is a three day waiting period to obtain the certificate. For additional information, please call the Town Clerk’s Office.
